Chapter 13

The PGA
I Know

Smile break

They picked on me. I kept teaching.

Smile break: They picked on me. I kept teaching.

I was picked on by the PGAs around my arena for being an EGTF, not a PGA. I chose a different path.

The last PGA teacher who worked in my company – he was selfish. Needy. He lied about his reputation. He told me how bad the PGA are, and that I should do the EGTF. That's what he wanted.

There's a story there. You don't need to know it. Just know there's a story.

Now I see it: a community indifferent to what a single person thinks.

"Bumped into a former student today — someone I taught when I first started coaching in NZ. I've taught her for years and never seen her shank. But today, she couldn't even hit the ball. She's given up on lessons and hardly plays anymore." I asked if he is a qualified teacher and she said yes, "a PGA teacher," and he can't fix me!

That's not about PGA or EGTF. That's about what works. And what doesn't.

I'm not here to fight the PGA. They're the world of golf. I get that.

But the proper way doesn't need a certificate. It needs patience, honesty, and a coach who shows up.

And people must remember: I'm writing only what I know, and what I've been told and taught.

You have to imagine that my brain takes on the things that will make me go forward – and realises when to stop. When things are starting to look different than what they were.

They can keep their cards. I'll keep my students. And next time I see a PGA flag, I'll nod. We both love golf. We just see it differently.
