And here's what I return with — in gratitude. During that time, she always came up to visit, just to say hello. We've had some really great times. And even on our most difficult visits, we are the closest friends — for support, for anchor, for wisdom.

Seven years ago, she got me out of the pothole — lifting me, protecting my lifeline from others who wanted to kill it for their own benefit. A friend, Gracie — who, unfortunately, has since passed away — sent me to a doctor who knew she could help me with my mental health. My body was being physically thrown around, and everybody was listening to the other bodies, not to mine. I was in a state where I wish it on nobody. It's a miracle I got through it, to be able to write today.
Today, I am fixed.
